Group Sponsors Hillary Clinton For President Robo Calls
Hillary Clinton fans can still dream, can't they?
A group calling itself “Run Hillary 2012” has begun making robo calls asking people to visit their website and sign a petition urging the Secretary of State to enter the race.
“America would be better off today if Hillary Clinton was our president,” the caller says, according to a transcript posted on the Huffington Post website.
“The Wall Street robber barons would be jailed, young people could afford college and find jobs and six million homeowners wouldn't face foreclosure,” the caller continues. “We need to change our course.”
Shaun Dakin, founder of Stoppoliticalcalls.org, told the Daily News Monday he’s received reports of Run Hillary calls from at least 6 people in New York, Ohio and North Carolina.
“It was a bit strange,” said Brooklyn
Democrat Cooper Miller, who received a call
around 2 p.m. Monday.
“It sounded like she was this cure all the way
it described Hillary,” Miller said.
There was no information about who’s behind “Run Hillary 2012.” The group’s website states only that it is a “project of the 99%.”
A State Department spokeswoman did not immediately comment. Clinton, who lost the Democratic primary to Barack Obama in 2008, has repeatedly said she has no plans to run for president again.
The robo calls follow recent op-eds written by influential Democratic pollsters Patrick Caddell and Douglas Schoen urging Clinton to run.
