SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- As
the November election draws closer, you may
start getting more of those
automated political phone calls. Californians
are being urged to report
the so-called “robo-calls,” which are illegal
in the state.
State officials want the groups that pay for those calls to be held accountable, saying anyone who gets one should file an official complaint with their phone company.
”You need to ask the phone company to intervene, and stop the calls from coming. That’s what the Public Utilities Commission recommends,” said Susan Caruthers with the State Public Utilities Commission.
If that doesn’t work you can file a complaint with the P.U.C., or add your name to an online registry of people who don’t want those calls. You can visit Stop Political Calls to put your name on the list.
