COLUMBUS, Ohio
— Voters who are fed up with automated political phone calls can turn to the National Political Do Not Contact Registry for help, 10TV News reported Monday.

On Monday, Jamie Dennis played several voicemail messages that he has received for 10TV News.

"Barack Obama and fellow democrats are putting Hollywood above America," said one automated message.

"John McCain ignored these issues and used the debates to launch attacks against Barack Obama," said another message.

"I don't care if it is Obama, if it's McCain, Ron Paul or any other candidate," Dennis said. "Don't bring that hateful rhetoric into my house."

The Web site stoppoliticalcalls.org is linking fed up voters with the National Political Do Not Contact Registry, 10TV's Lindsey Seavert reported. Founder Shaun Dakin said the so-called robo calls are cheap, efficient and abundant in battleground states like Ohio.

"This is an invasion of the home," Dakin said. "Phones are owned by individuals at the home, they pay for them. Politicians essentially have a free for all to call you however they want to call you."

Political calls are exempt from the National Do Not Call Registry. State Representative Thom Collier introduced a political do not call list in Ohio, but the measure failed twice, Seavert reported.

"If it is negative campaign stuff, I don't want to hear it coming out of my telephone," Dennis said.

Some states, including Indiana and Minnesota, have banned political robo calls. There are no such protections in Ohio.
